When we first conceived the idea to create JOP, we aimed at something that could represent a reference point for the rapid dissemination and distribution of authenticated knowledge in pancreatology. We immediately realized that we will be facing a challenge as:
“It isn't because things are difficult that we don't try, but by not trying, things become difficult” (Seneca).
Here are some of the distiguishing characteristics of our journal:
- JOP is in electronic format only: this ensures that accepted articles can be made available in a very short time.
- The quality of a scientific article is certified by serious and accurate peer-reviewing: this is why papers submitted to JOP go through a thorough - but very fast - reviewing process.
- JOP policy in terms of copyright is a quite innovative one. We strongly believe in the importance forauthors to retain the intellectual property of the articles that they send to journals in order to facilitate the scientific communication and exchange. To learn more about JOP copyright policy look at the Copyright Notice.
- Authors who publish in JOP can make their source data, reports of statistical analysis, as well as any other materials that they judge important, freely available to the scientific community. Please see the Source Data and Statistical Reports page to get further information about the improvements in the publication practices provided by this innovative iniziative.
